Frequently Asked Questions

Everything will remain confidential where it is safe to do so. I have a legal and/or ethical obligation to break confidentiality in certain circumstances. For example, where there is a risk to yourself or others, particularly children or vulnerable adults. I also have to break confidentiality in the event of a potential terrorist threat or if requested to by a court of law. I will always let you know that I intend to tell someone, who I am going to tell and why, before I do so.

I work from a self contained unit so you will never be overheard from my end. It is important you choose a private place to conduct your therapy sessions so you can talk freely and easily without concerns about being overheard. If you have any questions or issues with regard to this, please let me know.

There are no minimum or maximum number of sessions and you may decide at any point to finish. Ideally you will give me notice of at least a week before your last session so that we can have a proper ending. However I appreciate that there may be situations or circumstances where this is not possible.

Sessions are approximately 50 mins (known as a therapeutic hour!)

Your needs and wants are of primary importance so if this is what you want then I am happy to accommodate it. Ideally we will start with weekly sessions for at least a couple of weeks whilst we establish the relationship and then change the frequency.

If you need to change your appointment then of course you are welcome to contact me. However, I need to put some boundaries in place for both our sakes and I am not an emergency service. I provide some emergency numbers here on this website and, as a Samaritans listener, I definitely recommend phoning them on 116123 (24 hour service).

The sessions are online and held via Zoom. Other online platforms can be used if preferred. A link to the session will be sent the day before the session upon receipt of payment.

Counselling sessions are £50.

Sessions are £45 each if you book and pay for six sessions in advance.

Payment is by bank transfer prior to the session – ideally 24 hours in advance. As soon as payment is received I will send you the zoom link for the session.

Please provide me with as much notice as possible. If less than 24 hours notice is provided then the session will need to be paid for (with limited exceptions on a case by case basis).

It is important that the person coming for counselling wants to be there so the short answer is no. It will be necessary for your friend or relative to refer themselves but please do feel free to provide them with my details!
